Forklift Tires
There are two types of tires which could be used on forklifts: press on and standard. Usually, press on tires are used on electric forklifts and those types of forklifts operating in indoor applications such as warehouses. The press on tires can be utilized also in light industrial operation as well.

Surfaces that are rough or uneven need more traction and tougher tires. Therefore, standard tires are usually utilized. However, they are mostly used on forklifts which operate in outdoor environment.

There are lots of various types of forklift tires just as there are many different kinds of forklifts. The most commonly used tires are polyurethane, pneumatic and solid. The type of tires are dictated by where and what the forklift is utilized for. It is essential to obtain the correct tires for the job and making certain that the proper pick will have a huge effect on both safety and performance.

For outdoor forklifts that have to operate in an all-terrain atmosphere like on a construction site, the best option will be pneumatic tires. These are constructed out of tough rubber and then filled with air, similar to a truck or tractor tire. Pneumatic tires create an air cushion between the forklift and the terrain. This design considerably lessens the wear and tear on the machine and creates a really comfortable ride for the operator. The deep, thick treads on the tires give the necessary traction needed for use on uneven and rough surfaces.

Solid tires are best suited for both light industrial outdoor and indoor applications. They are made out of tough, constructed solid rubber. This helps them to stay safer from blowouts, popping like pneumatic tires or damage because of puncture wounds. As these tires are not filled with air, they are unable to provide the cushion effect. This fact makes them unsuitable for use on rough terrain. Some solid tires are made with holes in the sidewalls to provide a rather softer ride. The only issue is that this type of construction makes the load carrying capacity of the forklift less.

The polyurethane forklift tires will normally outlast both of the rubber tire designs but are intended for indoor warehouse use only. The load capacity of polyurethane is much higher compared to a rubber tire. These tires work great with well with electric forklifts because of the added weight of the equipment's batteries. Because of the tire's lower rolling resistance, one more advantage of this type of tire is the extended battery life.
