How to Charge a Scissor Lift
A lot of people value the convenience of using a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the security offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than trying to perform a similar task utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the best option for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine has to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found in the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
