Classifications of Scissor Lifts & Aerial Lift Platforms
A scissor lift is made up of a series of crisscrossed steel arms that are linked to make an X pattern. When vertically raised, the X pattern of support holds the rectangular platform that is situated on top of the lifting apparatus. There are support railings along the lifting mechanism's edges to be able to help secure the workers' tools and keep them safe.

Scissor lifts offer a low profile which is ideal for concrete, pavement and hard dirt surfaces. These equipment utilize either an electric motor or a combustion engine in order to move the lift and power the lifting mechanism. The operator should move the lift itself if she or he has to travel horizontally, since the lift mechanism just operates the lift vertically.

Rough Terrain Scissor Lift
The rough terrain scissor lift and the standard scissor lift utilize identical lifting technology. The key difference is that the rough terrain units feature a different base which is particularly designed for surfaces that are uneven. These units also provide oversized all terrain tires and higher ground clearance. The rough terrain scissor lifts utilize 4-wheel drive so as to easily navigate through muddy and difficult terrain.

Telescopic Boom Lift
The telescopic boom lift utilizes a telescoping beam which raises both vertically and diagonally. This unit has a small work platform that houses controls to be able to control the boom. The controls work with a combustion engine in order to power the hydraulics that move the lift and power the boom. The telescopic boom lift is an independent lift model and has off-road capable tires.

Articulating Boom Lift
The articulating boom lift features 2 telescopic booms that are attached with a moving elbow apparatus. This lifting equipment has a bucket or a small work platform which is outfitted with hand controls in order to control the boom. These are stand-alone lifts that are powered by a combustion engine. Articulating boom lifts are available with either off-road or hard surface tires. These lifts are made to be able to reach over top of and on top of buildings.

Aerial Mast Lift
The aerial mast lift utilizes a telescopic mast in order to raise a work platform vertically into the air. Typically, these lifts are pneumatic powered or electrically powered and are self-propelled machinery. These machines provide an ideal solution for working in high racks within narrow warehouse aisles. It is really essential to note that aerial mast lifts are limited to vertical movement and are not recommended for off-road application.
