Boomlift / Manlift Yukon

Used Boom Lift Yukon - In terms of popular aerial machinery, the boom lift is one of the most recognizable. Commonly known as aerial work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms, cherry pickers, aerial devices and elevating work platforms, it was engineered to complete work at higher locations more efficient and easier. There are many places to find boom lifts at work including warehouses, contractors, various companies and in retail stores. Staying safe while working at high altitude is essential for daily success. The material handling industry offers many boom lift models. A single operator can control a variety of boom lift models. Boom lifts are beloved in the agricultural and orchard industries, used to harvest fruit without requiring a separate ladder, they keep workers much safer since there is not climbing or bucket balancing involved. Since ladders require even, solid ground for setting them up safely, they can be unreliable in the agricultural industry. Harvesting fruit is much safer and simpler with a boom lift compared to using a ladder. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Boom lifts make working over top of obstacle much easier as many models have been engineered to travel up and over items. This equipment is used in numerous industries including installing telephone poles and lines, maintaining overhead cables and window cleaning applications due to their ability to reach items when it is not practical to situate the machine directly underneath the issue. With a variety of joints allowing the machine to bend over or under items, the articulated boom lift is helpful for numerous applications. The articulated boom sections can move independently to grant operators access to many locations. This equipment is popular in narrow storage locations and hallways thanks to its’ tight turning radius. The dual-fuel boom lifts provide service in both exterior and interior locations. Diesel models are used outside while electric boom lifts are implemented in interior locations. Articulating Boom Lifts Popular for maintenance jobs and construction, articulating boom lifts are a useful piece of material handling equipment. Articulated boom lifts are utilized commonly for working on overhead power lines and wires. Firefighters may use these machines and some articulated boom lifts have water cannons. Some models are built for extended reach applications and outfitted with telescoping sections. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. These boom lifts go by the nickname of “spiders,” since their legs can support the entire machine on steep or difficult terrain. Smaller units called interior articulating boom lifts are capable of fitting through doorways, making them valuable in retail, warehousing and storage facilities. Interior models are typically electric boom lifts due to their lack of dangerous carbon monoxide exhaust and quieter features. Telescopic Boom Lifts Articulating boom lifts and telescopic boom lifts move differently from each other. Instead, they extend outwards and upwards with hydraulics that retract and extend. The worker who is in the platform has the controls to extend the lift and is able to operate without a second worker. Certain larger units feature a jib located at the top that looks similar to an articulating boom lift model. There are models on the market capable of reaching over 180 feet. This equipment has been designed to be reliable and stable, with certain models capable of reaching their extended height in less than a minute. Adjustable speed, along with varying weight range capacities from 500 to 1000 lbs. are available in dual-fuel and diesel options. Boom lifts can fit through tiny spaces and there are 4WD options on the market. In terms of combining height and reach, telescopic boom lifts are your best bet. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. Certain models offer an additional articulation point or hinge that allows the platform to travel horizontally and vertically. Articulating boom lifts and telescoping boom lifts may have jibs. Articulating boom lifts have a joint found approximately halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow it to reach over obstacles. The operator can lower the machine again afterward if required. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts A popular type of articulating boom lift manufactured on the market is the Genie Z-boom Model. This unit offers exceptional versatility for accessing difficult to reach locations with the capacity to lift up, over and out with precision. The first articulating Genie Z-30/20 boom was launched in 1985. These machines became immediately popular with their up-and-over design that continues to make them sought after nowadays. Proper Safety Measures Of course, safety is the highest priority when operating any type of boom lift. It is essential that all potential safety hazards are known to anyone working within the area to maintain a safe atmosphere. Safely operating the equipment is a top priority for the operator and everyone in the working environment. Before starting the boom lift, it is paramount that the proper safety gear and communication is in place. Be aware of any battery gases, engine fuels, combustible items, lit cigarettes or open flames near the machine and do not operate if any flammable or combustible items are present. Have a properly mounted, accessible and visible fire extinguisher mounted within reach. Maintaining a clear area around charging stations and work surfaces is important as tools or clutter could damage the boom lift or cause tire punctures etc. Daily Maintenance Before engaging in activity, it is vital to do a visual inspection and consult the maintenance records to make sure all items are up to date and safe prior to operation. These industrial machines rely on lifting and supportive mechanisms to stabilize the weight. Fasteners, straps and chains must be regularly checked to make sure they are safe working order. Single-use fasteners and components must not be reused as they may fail and become extremely dangerous. Environmental contamination can be prevented by properly discarding oils safely in an approved container. Safety can be increased with proper lighting and adequate ventilation along workbenches and within workshops and garages. Typically the wide umbrella of maintenance is distinguished by subsections such as Commissioning and Programmed Maintenance Intervals, Annual Maintenance, and Quarterly Maintenance. Maintenance Inspection Report Main aspects of the boom lift are categorized and divided to facilitate the inspection process. Popular categories include Engine, Drive Chassis, Platform, Booms, Turntable, Controls and Function. Improper completion can result in unsafe operation, damage to components, poor performance and downtime. The maintenance inspection report extend the performance and service life of the machine and needs to be accurately maintained to ensure the machine is safe to run and that the machine is capable of performing properly. Commissioning refers to a list of one-time maintenance procedures to be complete at 50 hours and at 150 hour intervals. Quarterly and annual maintenance is required to be performed throughout the year. There are a variety of programmed maintenance procedures based on preparing the machine for pre-delivery machine operating. Prior to operating your equipment, check your maintenance manual to make sure all of the fluid levels, oil changes, battery life and maintenance are up to date. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
